There are different types of techniques that can be used for printing business cards. The most common types of business cards may be those which are coated and those which are non-coated. The selection of paper quality will depend on the printing type.

A coated paper card may be available in matte finish, dull or glossy finish, on one or both sides, which is commonly known as C1’s and C2’s.  When having prints on coated papers, the ink tends to stick to the outside coating rather than soaking within the paper. The advantage of using coated paper is that the prints appear to be more vibrant with much dark shades and evenly coated.

The un-coated paper types are much similar to any standard paper and usually come in matte finish.  These paper qualities are available in different textures and colors, and usually have more recycled content.  Usually these are the paper types that are used for most spot colored printing. There are wide ranges of paper quality which have number from 80 to 220.

If one is planning to have their business cards printed they should evaluate their creative artwork. If there is need to print the business cards in photo quality, then using coated paper will be the right decision. Business cards with single and spot designs look better with un-coated paper. One needs to select the right kind of paper card which is prefect for making their business cards. The paper type will ultimately help in creating the prefect finished product.
